Santorum worked into lather over Google search results

Rick Santorum
He who cannot be named

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who has no actual chance of winning the nomination, has always been a bit prickly about the results of a Google search for his last name. But I don't recall him ever going off on Google quite so directly:
Now, the Republican presidential candidate says he?s convinced Google could do something to remedy the issue, if the company wanted to.

?I suspect if something was up there like that about Joe Biden, they?d get rid of it,? Santorum said. ?If you're a responsible business, you don't let things like that happen in your business that have an impact on the country.?

He continued: ?To have a business allow that type of filth to be purveyed through their website or through their system is something that they say they can't handle but I suspect that's not true.?

Google for its part is rightly saying that it's just a search engine, and there's nothing it can or should do about it.

I suspect that this new bout of outrage on Santorum's part is because Google is a partner in next Thursday's Fox News debate, which may be adding insult to injury, for Santorum. I don't think Santorum really gets, though, that his problem is not with Google. It's not Google's fault if the most lasting contribution Rick Santorum ever made to society is the inspiration of a word making fun of him.
